Ford Motor Company

At the turn of the new millennium Ford Australia was facing stiff competition from a rampant General Motors Holden and Toyota Australia. The once leading car maker was under sustained pressure in this highly competitive market.

Recognising how critical the next release of this standard bearer model was to their future, the Australian arm of the great Ford Motor company threw all their resources into this $500 million project. From Ford's Design Centre in Melbourne, one of only four in the world, emerged the award winning BA Falcon. The BA Falcon now battles neck and neck with Holden's Commodore for supremacy in the traditional 6 and 8 cylinder sedan market segments.

A crucial high profile make up of the BA Falcon's profile is Ford's joint venture with Tickford to produce the stonking Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) When Melbourne's Web Design Group were commissioned to prepare and maintain the the FPV site they turned to Real World productions to help provide the most immersive experience possible when displaying the FPV cars online.

Working with acclaimed VR photographer Mark Ruff a series of external and internal VRs were produced. Using the industry standard Quicktime VR, these 360 degree panoramas were photographed and compressed for delivery to dial up and cable fast car afficionados.

Each final VR is a composite of 36 separate photographs that have been painstakingly digitally shot in hi res, retouched, stitched into a single hi res movie, then compressed for Hi and Lo web delivery.

FPV has now released a series of stunning models wowing the tribal performance car market including the GT, GT Premium, the uniquely Australian Pursuit Ute and now the 270kW/550Nm turbo supercar the Typhoon.

Real World is proud to be involved with this outstanding local production and maybe, just maybe, one day we will even get to drive one down a radar-free deserted country road ;-)
