Zinifex

In late 2001 the Australian sharemarket was rocked when Pasminco, the world's largest integrated integrated zinc and lead producer, was placed under voluntary administration with debts of over AU$2.5 billion. Fast forward to early 2004 and the stage was set for the sharemarket return of Pasminco, as it's assets were refloated in a new company called Zinifex.

Appointed to design and manage roll out of the Zinifex corporate identity was frequent Real World collaborator Heather Towns of Value Added Design. Heather is one of Australia's best known and most highly respected graphic designers who has built a vast portfolio of work over the last 20 years in brochures, packaging, corporate identity, annual reports and corporate events.


Heather has worked with Real World on a variety of projects over the years for a long list of clients including North Limited, Pasminco, United Energy, Uecomm, Amrad and Coles Myer ... just to name a few.

To assist in meeting an unforgiving launch deadline for the new identity, Real World quickly developed a number of the required assets.

Investor Roadshow

After announcement of the upcoming float a vitally important step was to clearly and quickly inform the world-wide investment community on the new entity called 'Zinifex'. Roadshow presentations were prepared for analysts and brokers in the investment community for presentation in Australia, US and Europe. Accompanying the presentations were high quality digitally printed copies of the presentations.


CD-Rom's were also created and assembled with the booklets as electronic records of the presentations.

Powerpoint presentation formats were required for both internal and external use by Zinifex staff. Forcing a relatively clumsy tool like Powerpoint to bend to the exacting colours, fonts and layout requirements of the new identity is one thing, ensuring that Zinifex staff throughout the organisation on three continents could simply and easily continue to maintain those standards on an ongoing basis, is another.


By modifying not only the Powerpoint master and template style, but default colours, graphs and other template items, Real World was able to distribute Powerpoint templates to all of the global offices, with consistent and persistent text, appearance, colours, logos and attributes that correctly work the new brand identity for each site.

We continue to assist Zinifex staff on an ongoing basis for 'value adding' Powerpoint files with creation of Flash animations, video and other multimedia to augment their presentations and have written the 'Presentations' section of the corporate Style Guide

Flash animations were produced to welcome staff to the new brand on the day of launch. As each staff member came to work and booted their computer, they were met with a fun playful character who introduced the new logo and brand.A new corporate screensaver was also designed to further reinforce the beginning of a new era for the business.
